The Soweto Marathon invites sportsmen and -women from all over South Africa to participate. Formally known as the Old Mutual Soweto Marathon, this event is made up of a standard marathon of 42.2 kilometres, a half marathon of 21.1 kilometres, and a 10-kilometre run. The 26th edition of the Soweto Marathon was the most over-subscribed race they had to increase their entry capacity to a most impressive 40 000 runners.

The Soweto Marathon sponsors, Old Mutual, trusted us with this challenging production. Some of our cameras were on motorbikes following runners at their different stages of the race so we had to use quite a few LiveU transmitters on bike camera operators while we had a few LiveU receivers back in our OB Van. We live-streamed this event to Old Mutual’s social media accounts.
